Michael Joseph Gruber

Michael Joseph Gruber, 55 of Gladwin, Mich., passed away on December 20, 2012 in Tecumseh, Mich., surrounded by his family. He was born May 28, 1957 in Tecumseh the son of Joseph Carl Gruber and Irene M. (Murphy) Gruber Brown. Michael married Delma Mills and was later married to Ruby Henry in August of 2006, both of whom survive. Michael worked for Ford Motor Company in Saline, Mich., as an incoming quality inspector until his retirement in 2006. Michael was a member of the Gladwin Free Methodist Church, the Harrison Moose Lodge No. 2235 and the Harrison Eagles. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.In addition to his wife, Ruby of Gladwin, Michael is survived by his mother Irene; two sons Michael Joseph (Tiffaney) Gruber II of Tecumseh and Brian (Jennifer) Gruber of Adrian, Mich.; one step-son Scott (Lisa) Hayward of Watertown, Mass.; two step-daughters Angela (Guy) Henry of Honduras and Michelle (Reiner Wailder) Hayward of Lake, Mich.; one sister Cynthia (Dennis) Steele of Manchester, Mich.; four brothers Steven (Tammy) Gruber, John Vanderpool, Douglas Gruber and Thomas (Shirley) Gruber and one sister-in-law Marcy Vanderpool all of Tecumseh and six grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his father, his paternal grandparents Carl and Marie Gruber and maternal grandparents LaVern and Gladys Murphy.Funeral services were held at noon Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with Pastor Jamie Driskill officiating. Visitation was at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. At Michael’s request, cremation followed. A time of food and fellowship followed the services at the Tecumseh Church of Christ. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Gladwin Free Methodist Church.
