Mira Mae Snyr

Mira Mae Snyr, age 66, of Brooklyn, Mich., passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at her home. She was born April 21, 1950 in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of the late Boyd and Julia (Lucas) Bennett. On March 25, 1972 she married Chester Joseph Snyr Jr. and they spent 44 wonderful years together.

Mira retired in 2005 after working 30 years for the State of Michigan Dept. of Mental Health as a Direct Care Aide worker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne, Mich., a member of Best Friends Animal Society in Utah, supporter of the Michigan Humane Society and was an amazing gardener and loved her cats, Mike and Arlo.

Along with her husband, Mira is survived by her brothers and sisters, Sandra Wilkins of Freeport, Mich., Wanda (Mike) Simpson of Taylor, Mich., Terry (Donald) Barley of Romulus, Mich., Robert (Rowena) Bennett of Tipton, Mich., and Eddie (Beverly) Bennett of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; sister-in-laws, Connie Arner of Cincinnati, Ohio, Cynthia (Robert) Haury of Saline, Mich., Christine Miller of Romulus, Mich., and Cheryl Baumann of Northville, Mich.; a brother-in-law, John (Andrea) Snyr of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Chester Joseph Sr. and Dorothy Mae Snyr and her sister-in-law, Carol Barks.

A funeral service for Mira will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Home.

Visitation was held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lenawee Co. Humane Society.
