Morton “Mort” Jerome Leonard

Morton “Mort” Jerome Leonard, age 79 of Tecumseh, passed away on January 4, 2016 at his home. He was born May 9, 1936 in Sharon, Pa., to Morton J. and Dorothy (Burrows) Leonard Sr. On April 8, 1995 he married Marlene Dziengelewski and she survives.

Mort was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Tecumseh; He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed family gatherings especially at Christmas and Easter. He was a graduate and Alumni of the University of Connecticut. He was the President of Rest and Recreation Company for 47 years in Milan, Mich. He was a member of the NRA. His love for the outdoors included animals, drives through Hidden Lake Gardens, taking color tours in the fall and relaxing at home with his wife.

Surviving Mort, besides his wife Marlene, are three children, Jeff (Kim) Leonard of Overland Park, Kan., Linda (John) Carver of Troy, Mich., and Shelly Mazur of Farmington Hills, Mich.; a sister, Gay (Bob) Steinle of New Hampshire; and seven grandchildren, Adam, Samantha, Eric, Chelsea, Jacqueline, Jason and Jacob.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Funeral Liturgy for Morton Jerome Leonard will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Reverend Dan Wheeler officiating.  Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh with a Vigil Prayer Service to be held at 7 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian.
