Nancy J. Hollenback

Nancy J. Hollenback, age 67 of Tecumseh, passed away on October 29, 2014, at St. Joseph Mercy Health Systems. She was born on January 4, 1947, in Hillsdale, Michigan, the daughter of Harold and Berndean (Gregory) Shults. Nancy married Russell Hollenback, Jr. on June 15, 1968, in Ann Arbor and he preceded her in death on July 10, 2011.Nancy was a founding member and Elder of the Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh. She was a proud volunteer who was a member of many organizations in the community including the Lenawee County Department on Aging, Meals on Wheels, and the Crisis Prevention Team with the Sheriff’s Department. She was also active in AWANA at the First Presbyterian Church. Nancy was a talented quilter, pianist and avid reader. Her greatest joy was the time that she spent with her family and enjoyed traveling to visit them. Nancy is survived by her sons Jed (Angela) Hollenback of Dearborn and Kurt (Alexis) Hollenback of Arvada, Colo.; daughters Jennifer Knight of Manchester and Sarah (Chad) Bilkey of Apex, N.C.; grandchildren Natalie, Nikole, Jaedon, Iris, Taylor, Ella, Olivia and Jed Thomas II; great grandchildren Jordan and Kylie Jean; sisters Sarah (Dale) Armstrong of Milan and Bette Ballard of Naples, Fla., and her beloved basset hound, Buddy. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers William Ingall and Frank Shults and sister Beverly McEwen. Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 12-8 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church with Pastor Richard Mortimer officiating. The family will receive friends Monday at the Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh. Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s honor to the Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church or to the Michigan Basset Rescue.
