Nelson LaVerne Helm

Nelson LaVerne Helm, age 75, of Clinton, passed away October 30, 2014.Nelson was born March 30, 1939 in Dearborn, Mich., the son of Fredrick and Margaret (Tyer) Helm. In June, 1960 he married Dorothy Schwartz and she survives. Nelson was a retired certified auto mechanic.In addition to his wife, Nelson is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Deborah) Helm, Gwendolyn (Jim) White, Bradley Helm and Gregory (Barb Holden) Helm and six grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Britton, with Vicar Dave McCarty officiating. Burial was in Macon Cemetery. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh.Condolences to the family may be made online at www.pursefuneralhome.com.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Robinson, and sister in-law, Shirlene Robinson.Family and friends were received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, Ohio on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, from 2-8 p.m. Visitation continued at Maumee United Methodist Church 405 Sackett St., Maumee on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery, Maumee. Memorial contributions may be made to Maumee United Methodist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
