Nine reasons to support city ordinance for backyard chickens
To the Editor,There are many good reasons why the City of Tecumseh should allow backyard chickens, here are a few good reasons why:1) It’s no different than growing a garden out back.2) It would be a great experience for youngsters.3) We then would know exactly what we are eating since we are raising our own food.4) It offers those with food allergies more control over their food.5) It could offer savings to people who choose to raise backyard chickens.6) It’s good for the community as a whole.7) It would give neighbors something to talk about.8) It could help create young farmers.9) It would create a need for more chicken feed in the area which would be good for local business.I personally cannot think of one negative involved by allowing Tecumseh residence to raise backyard chickens.Mary WeldenTecumseh
