Norma Preston

Norma Preston, age 94 of Tecumseh, died Monday, July 23, 2012 at her home of 73 years under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born January 2, 1918 the daughter of Merton and Bernice (Edwards) Thielan. In 1936 she married Leo Seidel and he preceded her in death in 1965; she married Richard Preston on February 11, 1967 and he preceded her in death in 2002.Norma was a member of the Tecumseh Country Club and Herrick Memorial Center Auxiliary. She enjoyed homemaking, gardening, golfing, and spending time at her cottage on Wamplers Lake. Her greatest joy in life was her home and her family.Norma is survived by her children, Judy McDowell, and Barry (Linda) Seidel both of Tecumseh; a sister Barbara Lucas of Dallas, Tex; three grandchildren, Mark, Mike (Julie) McDowell, and David (Jo) Seidel; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, and Abbie McDowell. In addition to her husbands Norma was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Ruth Hanna.Funeral Services will take place on Friday, July 27, 11:30 a.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with Pastor Tom Hawkins of NewSong Community Church officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lenawee Humane Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
