Parents as coaches deserves discussion at TPS board meeting
To the Editor,
Please inform citizens of TPS [Tecumseh Public Schools] of next board meeting.
Topic of discussion — Word on the Street: Do you feel parents as coaches influence which students have the opportunity to participate in athletic sports?
Remarks of John E. “Jack” Roberts, MHSAA [Michigan High School Athletic Association] executive director: Coaches may not be the reason students come out first for sports, but they’re usually the reason students stay out for sport.
Coaches don’t give students ability, but they discover or develop it. Coaches make both the quantitative and qualitative difference.
