Patriot girls win Addison Invitational
Hard work and dedication is paying off big dividends for Britton Deerfield’s varsity cross country teams as second season head coach Jay Yockey rooted his girls on to a first place finish at Addison’s Kuenner Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 8.
“I am extremely proud with how the girls ran today,” said Yockey. “The course was wet and muddy but they went out there and were competitive.
“This is our first time ever in program history getting first place as a team and we hope to continue this success with our first TCC meet coming up on Tuesday at Madison. We just have to get out there and compete like we did today.”
The Patriot boys were unable to score as a team with only four runners. Dakota Heiden led BD with a 36th place time of 22:09. Colton Lagore was 37th in 23:21 for BD while Christian Folau was 42nd with a time of 32:03.
Larissa Buckingham was the top finisher for BD with a fourth place time of 22:33. BD’s Morgan Tilley was 11th (23:19): Marisa Kimerer, 14th (23:35); Carrie Wielfaert, 15th (23:44); and Jessie Langmeyer, 17th (24:48). Megan Wielfaert was the Patriots’ sixth runner and she placed 28th with a personal best time of 26:46. She cut just under three minutes off her previous best time.
