Patriots seek new athletic director, Bearinger leaves for new job
Britton Deerfield’s athletic department hired a new athletic director in 2009 with Michele Bearinger replacing a newly retired Randy Salisbury in the position. On April 22, of this year, Salisbury replaced Bearinger as she left the position for another job opportunity.
“It’s just for a brief period of time,” said Salisbury. “I agreed to come back until the end of the school year.”
Bearinger was offered and accepted a job with the University of Michigan in the dean’s office, according to Salisbury.
Salisbury said he expects the athletic director position to be filled before the start of the fall season and the beginning school year.
Bearinger was also the Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent.
Salisbury worked for Britton Macon School District for more than 39 years and at least 30 of those years he was involved in one capacity or another with the athletic department. After retiring as principal, Salisbury returned as the school’s athletic director.
When Bearinger was hired as the athletic director in 2009 she said she had been a student aide for Salisbury when she was in high school at Britton. “I’ve worked off and on for the athletic department for about the past 20 years,” Bearinger said.
She also coached several teams over the years including varsity volleyball for the Patriots.
