Patriots’ girls cross-country team places second behind Madison at Whitmore Lake Jamboree

Britton Deerfield’s varsity boys and girls cross-country teams competed at Whitmore Lake on Tuesday, Sept. 9, in a Tri-County Conference Jamboree and the Patriots’ girls placed second while the boys placed fourth.Adrian Madison won the girls division with a score of 45 while BD placed second with 46.“It was disappointing to lose by one point on the girls side, but we still have some solid performances and almost all the girls ran a season or career PR [personal best record],” said BD coach Jay Yockey. “I know that they have more to give and will continue to work towards their goals for the end of the season.”Oda Laegran placed third for BD with a time of 21:11.53 while Marisa Kimerer was seventh with a time of 22:02.09. BD’s Morgan Tilley was 10th (22:36.48), Carrie Wielfaert, 12th (23:14.62), Jessie Langmeyer, 14th (23:28.10), Maggie Loesch, 15th (23:29.06), Emma Loesch, 16th (23:34.60) and Megan Bower, 17th (24:01.68).“On the boys side I was thoroughly pleased by the effort given by all,” said Yockey. “They went out and ran very hard from the time the gun went off to the finish of the race.”Adrian Madison placed first in the boys event with a score of 27 while Sand Creek was second with 62. Whiteford was third with 83 points while the Patriots scored 86 points to finish fourth.The Patriot boys were led by Gene Dudek, 7th (18:26.37), Hayden Ross, 10th (18:47.71), Ron Gerten, 19th (19:25.37), Josh Papworth, 24th (20:04.90), Dakota Heiden, 26th (20:07.43) and Lucas Wielfaert, 28th (20:23.25)BD was scheduled to compete on Tuesday at the Blissfield Early Bird at Gerber Park. Results will be reported in next week’s Herald.
