Patriots control Whitmore Lake

Briton Deerfield’s varsity football team evened out its record with a big 51-28 victory at Whitmore Lake in Tri-County Conference action on Friday, Sept. 14.The Patriots (2-2 overall, 1-1 Tri-County Conference) had 574 total yards on offense. BD rushed for 361 yards and passed for another 213 during the TCC contest.BD finished the first half with a 32-6 lead, controlling the game from the start.Whitmore Lake outscored the Patriots 22-19 in the second half but couldn’t make up their lack of points from the first two quarters.BD’s Nate Hoffman totaled 213 yards and a touchdown passing.Leighton Merritt rushed for 187 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Patriots. Brandt Swindeman rushed for 136 yards and also scored three touchdowns including a 91-yard TD in the final quarter.BD plays next at home (Britton) against Whiteford.
