Patriots defeat Trojans 62-26

Britton Deerfield’s varsity girls basketball team dominated Whitmore Lake for a 62-26 victory on Tuesday, Dec. 4. The Patriots took a 27-6 lead after one quarter of play and added to that to finish the first half with a big 42-17 lead into halftime.Cambria Handy had 24 points and 10 rebounds (4 offensive) to lead the Patriots’ offense. BD’s Alicia Gotz had 10 points and seven rebounds while Morgan Tanis added nine points and seven rebounds (5 offensive).Kennedy Budd added five points and eight rebounds for BD while Taylor Cousino added four points and four offensive rebounds.“It was another solid performance for us tonight,” said BD coach Craig Tanis. “Our defense set the tone early and we held Whitmore Lake without a field goal in the second half. Our bench continues to play extremely well and we did a great job rebounding as a team.”BD was scheduled to play at Clinton on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Results from the contest will be reported in next week’s Herald.
