Patriots lag behind Clinton, Madison

Britton Deerfield’s (BD) varsity boys track team competed against Madison and Clinton on Tuesday, April 14, and lost both meets.Against Clinton, the Patriots lost 98-38.The Patriots’ two-mile relay team (Dakota Heiden, Nate Papworth, Josh Papworth, Dylan Murrin, 9:01) placed first.First and second places were recorded by Dylan Murrin (2:12) and Josh Papworth (2:27) in the 800-meter run.BD also placed first in the 4x400 (Nate Papworth, Josh Papworth, Brent Burnor, Murrin, 4:00).Against Madison the Patriots lost 129-8.“Overall we know we are coming into meets as the underdog since we aren’t as strong in sprints and field events like previous years,” said coach Jay Yockey. “The middle distance squad turned in solid performances. Tanner Handy had quiet a showing on his track debut in the shot and I expect to see more from him. We know we have spots to fill and that there is work to be done. We’ll keep pushing our own limits and hope to see improvements in all areas.”
