Patriots place ninth and end team season

BRITTON — Britton Deerfield’s varsity boys track team placed ninth at the Division 4 regionals at Hillsdale College on Friday, May 16.The Patriots will be represented at the state meet by Nate and Josh Papworth, Dylan Murrin and Dakota Heiden in the 3,200-meter relay. They placed third but ran 8:41.53, which was better than the additional qualifying mark.Dylan Murrin placed first in the 800-meter with a school record time of 2:00.96. BD’s mile relay team of Nate Papworth, Brent Burnor, Dylan Murrin and Dakota Heiden placed fifth with a time of 3:48.71.Ron Gerten placed sixth in the two-mile run with a time of 11:37.56 while Nate Papworth was seventh in the 400-meter with a time of 55.61. “I’m very pleased with the results from today,” said BD coach Jay Yockey. “My 3,200-meter relay team has been working hard for three years to get to state and they ran great. Dylan Murrin is an outstanding athlete and has improved greatly. He is determined and running very smart. His time today gives him the fourth best time in division four.”
