Paul Lowell Wilson

Paul Lowell Wilson of Houston passed away 26 June 2018.

Paul was born 25 July 1937 in Clinton. The youngest child of Amos DeWitt and Josephine Adelia (Haldy) Wilson, he graduated from Clinton High School in 1955, the University of Colorado Boulder in 1959, and the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in 1964.

He married Janet Ilene Fitzgerald on 18 June 1961 in Lakewood, Colo.; they divorced in January 2003.
Paul served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1966 before joining the Continental Oil Company of Ponca City, Okla. as a petroleum engineer from 1967 to 1999.

The family moved to Houston in 1973 and he lived in the family home until 2017.
After retiring, Paul traveled throughout the USA and Western Europe in pursuit of genealogical documentation on his ancestors and oral family stories from living cousins. He self-published The Descendants of Richard Wilson and Julia Ann Stuck in August 2016. The companion publication on the descendants of Johann Friedrich Haldy and Elisabetha Louisa Lindemann remains unfinished.

Paul is survived by his children Karlene Masters (Steven – Va.) and David Wilson (Isabelle – Calif.); brother Lynn Wilson (Ariz.); nieces Judy (Wilson) Hartwig (Allen –  Mich.), Patrice (Wilson) Redman (Les – Mich.), Diane Sell (Fla.), Cheryl (Wilson) Jamison Brecko (Kenneth – Colo.), Marie (Wilson) Flores (Luis – Ariz.), Nicole Wilson (Calif.); and nephews Gerald Sell (Lori – Ariz.), Daniel Sell, John Sell (Ind.), Scott Wilson (Calif.), and Michael Wilson (Ariz.).

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Annabelle and brother-in-law Richard Sell (Mich.) and brother Arnold and sister-in-law Phyllis (Cameron) Wilson (Mich.).

A celebration of life and scattering of ashes will take place in Clinton in the coming year. Condolences may be offered at millerfuneral.com.
