Phillip P. Broom

Phillip P. Broom, age 77, of Tecumseh died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was born October 9, 1935 in Detroit, the son of Claude and Ruth (Drouillard) Broom. Phillip is survived by his loving wife Terri Armstead whom he married on September 1, 2000 in Ann Arbor.Phillip served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked in the wholesale flower business, retiring October 1, 2000. Phillip enjoyed watching the Lions, Wings, Tigers and Michigan Football. He had a love of airplanes and enjoyed learning the history and the mechanics of them. Phillip enjoyed barbeques and taking drives in the country. Phillip was known for entertaining his girlfriends at Bob Evans, Mack’s Midtown and at the Big Boy in Adrian.In addition to his wife, Terri, Phillip is survived by two sons, Phillip (Laura) Broom, Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Fred (Tanya) Broom of Fortworth, Tex; a brother, Claude “Ed” (Joan) Broom; a sister, Harriett Baker of Waterford; one very special niece Claudia (John) Brown of Somersworth, N.H.; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Jacob and many nieces and nephews. Phillip was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Barbara.Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass for Phillip will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh with Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant. Visitation will also be held on Saturday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church from 10 a.m.-11:45 a.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralservices.com. Flowers may be sent to St. Elizabeth Church for Phil’s memorial service and memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Lenawee. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
