Rain totals twice June average

With fields flooded and roads closed late last month, Lenawee County received over twice the normal amount of rainfall for the month of June. While the average June rainfall for Tecumseh is just under 4 inches, over 10 inches was recorded this year. Most of the county received between eight and ten inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service. Through July 17, Tecumseh and the majority of Lenawee County has received approximately two inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service. The rain’s impact has been minimal in Tecumseh, as Tecumseh Police and Fire Departments had no calls related to the rains last month. However, Tecumseh resident Sam Craig, who lives on Tonneberger Drive, has seen his property flooded several times over the last month-and-a-half because of the high summer water level of Globe Mill Pond. Even with all the rain, Tecumseh’s wastewater treatment plant is pumping the same amount of water to residents as it did last year, said wastewater Supt. Todd Amstutz. “I’d just wish the rain would stop,” he added.
