The Raisin Township Board of Trustees met Monday and addressed several agenda items. Absent from the meeting were trustees Dale Mitchell and Kami Johnson.

A date for the public hearing on the 2016 budget was scheduled for Monday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the Raisin Community Center, located at 3226 Gady Rd.

Raisin Township Supervisor Jay Cavanaugh asked the board for feedback on scheduling a telephone conference with Larry Goerge, State of Michigan’s 1033 Program (military surplus) facilitator. Cavanaugh asked township clerk and trustee Betty Holdridge to put the item on the Monday, Nov. 23, agenda, which is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the conference room in the township hall, 5525 Occidental Highway.

Raisin Township Supt. Jim Palmer informed the board the township has been receiving calls concerning the burning of leaves in the township.

“We have to find ourselves a better method to take care of leaves,” Palmer said. He added he is in talks with Madison Township and Modern Waste about possible options for next year.

Trustee Tom Hawkins brought Mike McAran forward as a possible township planning commission appointee. Cavanaugh had asked each trustee to think about possible appoint-ees and present them to the board. No board action was taken on McAran as Hawkins was just bringing the name forward.
