To the Editor,

In response to John McConnell’s 10/17 letter, I must ask if he watches any news, or paid any attention to the disastrous Obamacare rollout, described by his former press secretary as “ excruciatingly embarrassing.” Checked your paystub lately, John? Workers have paid a one percent tax in 2013 to front-load this mess, and Obama stole $700 billion from Medicare to fund it.

Studies show insurance rates rising in 45 of 50 states, as much as 100 percent! Obamacare author, Sen. Baucus, called it a “train wreck,” AFL-CIO Pres. Trumka is running from it; James P. Hoffa called it “the end of the 40-hour work week.” Remember, “If you like your doctor, you can keep him,” or “We’ll lower family premiums $2,500?” Both lies. Thirty million people will still lack coverage, and forget grandma or baby-boomers getting knee replacements or bypass surgery after 75. Care rationing is coming; I know several doctors quitting medicine as a result.

We are all now aware of Obama’s “redistribution of wealth,” taxing responsible working people and giving handouts to people often lacking personal responsibility. Quite simply, Obamacare is “redistribution of health,” again taking from all of us to benefit some who rely on government handouts for other aspects of life. And now we find out that the White House/IRS knew in 2010 that millions would lose their insurance. This is what happens when “we have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it,” as Nancy Peolosi famously said at the time.

Don’t give me this “ending injustice-better future” nonsense. The Obamacare wreck was shoved down our throats by a 100 percent Democratic vote, no Republicans voted for it, and most Americans are on their side. Check the facts: higher taxes, higher premiums, lower quality of care.

So Obama has blown up the best health care in the world for this? Is this your idea of a “step toward a better future,” John?
