Ruth Gregg Bailey

Ruth Gregg Bailey, 89, of Tecumseh, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in her home with her loving family by her side. She was born February 25, 1923 in Adrian, Michigan the daughter of W.D. and Anna (Timmerman) Gregg.Ruth was president of the Adrian High School class of 1941. She received her nursing degree in 1945 from Highland Park General Hospital. On March 22, 1946 she married her high school sweetheart, William P. (Deke) Bailey and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2011. She practiced nursing in several capacities throughout her career, but primarily she was the nurse of Dr. Howard Eddy in the Adrian office of Drs. Eddy, Feeny, and Sarapo. This feisty lady was a wonderful role model to her daughters. She was a loving partner to her husband as they raised three daughters in a post WWII world. Ruth enjoyed knitting, rug hooking, and golf. Upon retirement, she and Bill enjoyed traveling to points South and West. Later in life her greatest joy was being with family, playing cards, and watching the Tigers and college football. “She will be sadly missed by all who knew her”Ruth is survived by three daughters, Carolyn (Jim) Feldkamp of Tecumseh, Jane (Nita Firestone) Bailey of Brighton, and Karen (Mario Gracia) Bailey of Dexter; four grandsons, James (Lindsay), Michael, Aaron, and Joel; two great-grandsons, Braeden and Cullen. In addition to her husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Doris Gibbs, and Caroline in infancy; and brothers, Harold and Ralph.At Ruth’s request cremation has taken place and a private family memorial is planned at a later date.
