Sandra F. Van Loon

Sandra F. Van Loon, 71, of Tecumseh passed away December 7, 2012 at Magnum Health Care, Adrian. She was born September 26, 1941 in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Nate and Florence (Forbes) Smith. She was married to Thomas Harrison, Sr. Later she was married to James Van Loon and he survives.Sandy worked for General Motors for 21 years. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, flower gardening, dancing and spending time with her family, friends, and her grandchildren. She was a great wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.Sandy is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Thomas (Amy) Harrison of Tecumseh; step-daughter Kristin (Rich) Chmiel of Onsted; brothers, John (Jeannie) McVay of Blissfield and Dick (Marge) Smith of Blissfield; sister-in-law Irene Riffe of Tecumseh; four grandchildren Caleb and Evan Harrison and Jeremy and Brendan Chmiel; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Erma Haeussler.Visitation was on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh with Rev. Fr. Daniel as Celebrant. The Rite of Committal followed at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens in Tecumseh. The family received friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
