SEC prevails against Cascade Conference

A varsity boys basketball contest between Southeastern Conference’s Tecumseh and the Cascade Conference’s Manchester on Monday was a one-sided affair with the hosting Indians dominating the Flying Dutchmen for a big 68-33 victory.Junior Zack Watkins highlighted the contest for Tecumseh with enthusiasm and three pointers. He scored three three-pointers in the opening stanza and one in each in the three remaining quarters to lead Tecumseh’s offense.Tecumseh held a 21-9 lead by the end of the first quarter and both teams matched point-for-point to total 10 each in the second quarter. The first half closed with the Indians leading 31-19.The second half belonged to Tecumseh. The Indians outscored the Flying Dutchmen 14-7 in the third quarter and 23-7 in the fourth quarter.Tecumseh senior Doug Sheets added 14 points and six rebounds while Jeff Arnett added seven points and five rebounds. Tom Mammel (5 rebounds, 3 assists) and Alex Gillen chipped in six points each for the Indians. Josh Arbini scored five points for Tecumseh and hauled down eight rebounds. Jimmy Terry had eight boards and five assists for the Indians while Zach Watkins recorded two steals.Tecumseh’s junior varsity boys basketball team defeated Manchester’s Flying Dutchmen 58-22 on Monday.Trey Mitchell led Tecumseh’s (2-3 overall, 0-2 SEC) offense with 25 points while Damon Hazenthal chipped in nine points. Both Andre Trout and Andrew Kapnick scored eight points each for the Indians.
