Severe storms sweep area

On Saturday evening, Sept. 20, a line of severe storms swept through the area, downing trees, closing some local roads and cutting power to residents.Hendershot and Dinius Roads were closed because trees had come down, blocking traffic. On Occidental Hwy., south of Tecumseh, a tree uprooted and landed on a car owned by Megan Linksi. “We were sitting in the garage when the wind picked up,” said Jeff Fox, who saw the tree come down.In Paul’s Trailer Court in Tecumseh off North Union Street, Beverly and Marvin Stotler had a tree come down on their house, damaging the roof. According to Kathy Karle, who lives in the trailer park, a man was trapped until 5 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, after trees and power lines came down around his house.On Democratic Street in Tecumseh, fire crews were called to handle power lines that were on fire. Power crews were out Saturday night trying to restore power to residents.
