Smith Recreation Center to host Spring Craft Show

The second annual Tecumseh Spring Craft Show is on the horizon for area crafters and those who shop for unique and handmade items. On Saturday, March 21, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Smith Recreation Center, shoppers can wander through the gymnasium and see what crafters in the community have created.According to Heather Rymanowicz, office manager at the Recreation Center, 31 vendors have already reserved booth space for the Spring Craft Show. Applications are still being accepted for booths, with the hope there will be enough vendors to fill both gymnasiums.“We would like to get 40 or more crafters,” said Rymanowicz. “We have a lot of great local crafters. Everything is handmade with no marketplace items.”Crafts available at the different booths include jewelry, stained glass art, hand-made soaps, and a wide variety of blankets from fleece to knitted styles.“We have lots of different things this year,” Rymanowicz said. “We’re excited we are in our second year and the craft show keeps growing.”Last year’s inaugural craft show was a great success. There were 23 local craft vendors in one gymnasium, with a good turnout of shoppers who enjoyed the selections available.“Everybody really enjoyed it. They felt like there was a good selection,” said Rymanowicz. “We had about 200 people come through, and all the people I saw left with a bag.”Admission for the Spring Craft Show is $3 with children age five and under getting in free. No strollers are allowed in the craft show.Tickets are available at the Smith Recreation Center, Jerry’s Market and Busch’s Fresh Food Market in Tecumseh. Coupons for $1 off admission can be found on the Tecumseh Park’s and Recreation Facebook page.Applications for vendor booths are available on the Smith Recreation Center website, www.tecumsehparksandrec.recdesk.com/recdeskportal.
