Success of CAT performance shows ‘wise’ support of arts

To the Editor,It may be assumed that there are a few talented people in any small town, but after enjoying the wonderful performance of the Tecumseh Youth Theater’s “Cats” production, I’m wondering how in the world do we collect that much talent? Cats were coming out of the alleys, windows, and everywhere to fill up a stage with beautifully costumed characters whose choreography and singing were nothing but wonderful! I believe there are 24 cats in the play, but not one of them was a weak link. That’s my amazement. You could expect a few stars, but this was a great cast in totality. Thanks, kids, for a very enjoyable evening. This successful production must reflect the value of investment in the arts. Cast rehearsals, adult sponsors and major donors have made Tecumseh Youth Theater an organization to be proud of. It has brought the community together to support it as people, companies and foundations have made this possible. Probably only a few will ever make a career out of working in the theater, but all of these kids will look back with fond memories to the fun of production, the taste of success, and the reward of a well-deserved standing ovation. Tecumseh is very wise to support the arts as a quality of life. We’re a better town because we do.Jim WilliamsBritton
