Tanis takes over Britton Deerfield's varsity softball team

Coach Leslie Tanis has taken over Britton Deerfield’s varsity softball team this season, replacing Dawn Cousino. Tanis was an assistant coach for the team last year.Tanis has just two returners in sophomores Morgan Tanis and Katie Rowe. Morgan Tanis will cover the shortstop position while Rowe will cover outfield. Both girls are expected to see time behind the plate as catchers.“We’re on a rebuilding year,” said coach Tanis. “We lost our expected starting pitcher to injury at the end of basketball season.”Laura Rowe will be stepping in as a freshman pitching replacement. Megan Wielfaert will be a back-up pitcher for the Patriots.“This is a JV team competing at a varsity level,’ said Tanis. “We’re looking to improve and build for next season.”Katie Bennett, a former Clinton player, and Steve Sword, are Tanis’ assistant coaches.
