TDL Board thanks Hazelbaker and staff for dedication to serve

To the Editor,This letter is written in appreciation to Gayle Hazelbaker, library director of Tecumseh District Library (TDL), and her staff who provide friendly, professional service to the community they serve. Perhaps you are one of the 8,500 plus library cardholders of TDL and have visited the library to check out the latest best sellers or used the MelCat (Michigan interloan) system. The speed of these transactions from arriving through the delivery system and onto the library shelves is quick indeed and can be attributed to the dedicated staff people who work behind the scenes to process your requests in the most efficient manner.Maybe you’ve needed help finding information and asked an accessible reference librarian for help. There were 10,000 questions asked last year! Or been on of the 55 people who took advantage of individualized computer training. These services are free and provided by the cheerful staff members who greet you when you come through TDL’s doors. Our dedicated staff has also worked hard to establish business partnerships in the community to widen the scope of our program offerings. The TDL staff understands that the library is for everybody in the community and has heeded the call of our recent Strategic Plan to continue appealing to the seniors and youth members but also find ways to connect with young families and the 20-40 age group. During the 2014-15 Fiscal Year, 184 programs were presented to over 6,000 people! The Board of Trustees wish to thank the dedicated employees of TDL who will continue striving to find ways to meet the needs and interests of the community we serve.Carolyn Feldkamp, SecretaryTDL Board of Trustees
