Tecumseh gets payback in tight doubleheader against Chelsea

After losing the first of two Southeastern Conference (SEC) varsity softball games to Chelsea on Thursday, April 24, Tecumseh’s Indians got some payback on the visiting Bulldogs with an 11-8 victory in the nightcap.Pitcher Kayla Kormos evened out her varsity softball season record to 2-2 with a 5-3 loss against Chelsea in game one. The Indians’ senior starter pitched 5 1/3 innings in the loss. Anneka Hart threw the last 1 2/3 and gave up only one hit while striking out one.Katie Martin led the Indians’ offense with a 2-for-4 showing at the plate. Kelsea Kaliszuk was 1-for-4 with two RBI: Danielle Nowak was 1-for-4 with one RBI; and McKenzie Rowe, Morgan Monahan and Claire Burnett each added one hit.Tecumseh won game two with Kayla Wild in the circle. She pitched six innings to record the win and improve to 3-0. She helped herself out in the win with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate with a double and two RBI.Hart pitched the last inning and allowed just one run to pick up the save. Claire Burnett had a stellar game, going 4-for-4 with a double to lead the Tribe to victory. Tecumseh’s Tyffani Bryan went 2-for-4 with her first solo home run of the season, and had two RBI. McKenzie Rowe was 3-for-5 with two RBI for the Indians while Maggie Foss was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and three RBI.Danielle Nowak was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.Tecumseh’s doubleheader against Ann Arbor Huron on Monday, April 28, was cancelled due to bad weather and was rescheduled for Wednesday, April 30.Tecumseh is now 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the SEC White Division.
