Tecumseh girls win County CC Preview

For the third straight time, Tecumseh’s girls cross country program has started the season by winning the Lenawee County Preview Championship.The Indians scored 29 points to finish first while Blissfield (39) followed 10 points behind to place second. Britton Deerfield’s girls placed third (48) while Clinton was eighth (138).“This team has trained very well this summer and it showed today as we were able to place five in the top 13 of the junior, senior race,” said third year Tecumseh coach Jill Stockford.There were five other participating teams including Adrian (68), Sand Creek (78), Onsted (93), Addison (114) and Madison (161). Hudson, Morenci, and Lenawee Christian did not field five runners for a team score.There were two races, junior/senior and freshmen/sophomore.In the junior/senior race, Tecumseh’s Hannah Weatherford placed first with a time of 21:22. It was the first win of her varsity career, after cutting more than two minutes off of her time from last year.Tecumseh’s Jessica Tebbetts placed third with a time of 22:18 while Katie Kasper placed fourth (22:47): Nicole Lipnichan, ninth, (24:05), Kelsey Hammer, 13th, (24:46), Zoe Melnyk, 17th, (25:01), Kelsey Randolph, 31st, (27:07), Nicole Cote, 33rd, (27:24)In the freshmen/sophomore race, Tecumseh’s Kristina Ziemer placed 12th, (24:50) with Kristin Randolph right behind for 13th place (24:53). It was the first high school cross country race for both girls.Tecumseh’s Emily Alderman placed 21st (26:20): Elyssa Hedrick, 27th (27:26) and Paige Otto, 33rd (31:30).
