Tecumseh ninth in Division 3 state swimming/diving championships

Tecumseh High School’s varsity swim and dive team placed ninth at the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Division III state championships at Oakland University in Rochester on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14.Cranbrook-Kingswood won the state title with a score of 430 while East Grand Rapids was second with 248. Grand Rapids Christian High was third with 124 points while the Indians finished ninth with 90.Collin Eberle led the Indians with a sixth place finish in diving with a score of 413.00.Senior Bryant Hagemann led the Indians’ swimmers with a pair of eighth-place finishes. He placed eighth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.32 and eighth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:53.45.Hagemann was also a member of Tecumseh’s eighth place 200-yard freestyle relay team with senior Dylan Coleman, sophomore Brandon Russell and sophomore Jacob Schaedler clocking in at 1:31.91.Hagemann also helped Tecumseh’s 400-yard freestyle relay to a seventh place finish with teammates Coleman, Brandon Russell and senior Jared Russell touching the wall in 3:20.13.The Indians opened the event with a 15th place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Jared Russell, Schaedler, Coleman and Brandon Russell recording a time of 1:43.96.Jared Russell placed 12th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.72 while Schaedler was 19th in 2:07.78. He finished 19th in the 100-yard backstroke (56.56).Brandon Russell was 27th in the 100-yard freestyle (50.90) while senior teammate Samuel Anderson was 28th (51.13).Anderson also placed 31st in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.31) while Coleman was 32nd in the 50-yard freestyle (23.23).
