Tecumseh police ask public to avoid traveling S. Occidental Hwy. in the city until further notice

The Tecumseh Department of Public Works and the Tecumseh Police Department are requesting the assistance of motorists traveling in the area of Occidental Hwy. from M-50 to Russell Rd. in the City of Tecumseh.Tecumseh Police Chief Troy Stern said due to a roadway re-surfacing project the stretch of Occidental Hwy. from M-50 south to Russell Rd. is officially closed until further notice. Residents who live in the affected area are encouraged to enter and exit Occidental Hwy. from the cross street that is nearest to their residence. Citizens who are utilizing South Occidental Park are requested to approach Occidental Hwy. using Willow St.Motorists are reminded that even though there may not be active work occurring on the roadway, hazardous conditions may exist that require the closure of the roadway during the construction period.Motorists disregarding posted traffic control devices are subject to being stopped and cited.
