Tecumseh Public Schools hires Steve Robb as new head varsity football coach

TECUMSEH — Tecumseh Public Schools announced the appointment of Steve Robb as the new Tecumseh High School head varsity football coach on Tuesday morning. Robb has been a high school football coach in Michigan for 36 years, including 27 years as head coach at Milan High School and Dearborn Divine Child. He most recently was an assistant coach at New Boston Huron in 2014, helping the Chiefs to an 11-2 record and a berth in the Division 3 state semifinals.“I have been fortunate over the years to compete at and against Tecumseh High School with our Milan football and baseball teams,” Robb said. “The competition was fierce, and I always admired the support and passion displayed by the school and community. The previous coaching staff has the football program in great shape, and I am excited about this opportunity to work with the young men at Tecumseh. Go Indians!”Robb’s teams won 168 games in 25 years at Milan, earning eight league championships and qualifying for the state playoffs 18 times. He was named the State Class “B” Coach of the Year by the Associated Press in 1997 and again in 1998 by the Detroit News. Robb was inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 2006. He was offensive coordinator at Divine Child when the football team won the 1985 State Class “B” championship, and his baseball teams won 311 games in 15 seasons at Divine Child and Milan.An Albion College graduate, Robb quarterbacked Albion to a perfect 9-0 season in 1976 and was selected Most Valuable Player by his teammates, as well as being named MVP of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. He also played baseball at Albion.Robb was a three-sport athlete at Plymouth Salem High School. He resides with his wife, Ann, and their children, Kylie and Joey, in Canton.
