Tecumseh seeking new athletic director

By MICKEY ALVARADOJust weeks before the start of the 2013-2014 school year, Tecumseh High School (THS) is without an athletic director as Clinton Public School’s announced on Wednesday, July 31, they had hired Casey Randolph as the Redskins’ new athletic director (AD).Randolph was hired as AD by Tecumseh in 2010, replacing Griff Mills, who was promoted to the Tecumseh High School principal position. Randolph also carried the title of assistant principal at THS. He now replaces Clinton’s Kevin Beazley, who was promoted to the Clinton High School principal position.Randolph told Tecumseh superintendent Kelly Coffin that he had applied for the position and recently confirmed to her that he had accepted the offer.“I wish him the best,” Coffin said. “He left us in good shape here. Casey is very organized and was an excellent AD. He really has everything in place for fall.”Coffin said that the fall season scheduling is complete including the photo/media day set for Saturday, Aug. 17.“We are going to take some time now and look internally to see if there is anybody interested in that and go from there,” said Coffin.Mills has already held the position and is capable of doing the job however Coffin isn’t looking to increase his workload at this time. She feels that everything is in place for the start of the sports season, as the AD secretary, Jenny Poston, works through the summer to help Randolph prepare for the upcoming school year. That should give Tecumseh Public Schools enough time to find the right person for the job she said.“I just want to give people internally an opportunity if this is something that they want to do. That’s been one of my things here in Tecumseh I really want to do is develop leadership from within. And this gives me an opportunity to look at that,” Coffin said.
