Tecumseh splits SEC tri-meet

Tecumseh High School varsity girls golf team split its Southeastern Conference tri-match at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Ypsilanti on Wednesday, Aug 31, beating Ann Arbor Skyline 216-254 but losing by one stroke to Ann Arbor Huron, 215-216.

Becca Nowak led Tecumseh’s squad with a 42 while Leigh Kapnick followed with 52. Tecumseh’s Carley LaPlant carded 60: Anneka Hart, 62; and Keisha Batra, 68.

Paige Watkins has been an early leader for the Indians, however she sat the match out due to a shoulder injury, according to coach Kerry Smith.

The Indians were scheduled to play next on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Reddeman Farms against Chelsea and Dexter. Results from the contest will be reported in next week’s Herald.
