Tecumseh track teams run at Wildcat Booster

Tecumseh’s varsity track teams lagged a step behind visiting Chelsea on Wednesday, April 30 as the quick running Bulldogs defeated the Indians’ boys 86-50 and the girls 90-46.The Indians followed with a competition at Onsted’s Wildcat Booster Invitational on Saturday, May 3, where the girls placed fifth (55) and the boys 12th (19.50).The girls were led at the invite with a second place finish by Hannah Weatherford in the two-mile run (12:52.38).Tecumseh’s 400-meter relay team of Chloe Stitt, Harley Whitehead, Nicole Lipnichan, and Hannah Galloway placed third with a time of 53.92 while Katie Kasper was third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:04.21.“I am so excited for my girls,” said Tecumseh coach Kim Foley. “We have been training hard and dealing with several injuries and despite that we continue to improve our times each time we get out on the track.”Tecumseh’s boys recorded three season best times: the 3,200-meter relay team of Tommy Mammel, Jeff Case, Drake Vandenberg, and Andrew Waite placed fifth with a season best time of 8:43.45; Mitch Meger placed fifth in the 100-meter dash with a personal record time of 11.97; and Drake Vandenberg placed fifth in the 800-meter run with a season best time of 2:06.12.The Indians’ boys recorded four first place finishes against Chelsea with Nick Schnur vaulting to the front with a season best height of 14’. Luke Marston placed first in the long jump with a distance of 17’7.5”: Gabe Lopez placed first for Tecumseh in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.01; and Mitch Meger placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.9.Tecumseh’s 800-meter relay team also placed first with Marston, Steven Bloxam, Meger and Lopez clocking in with a time of 1:36.16.Marston also placed second in the 100-meter dash (11.98) while Bloxam was second in the 200-meter dash (24.96).Tecumseh’s girls recorded five first place finishes against Chelsea. Diamond Tirado placed first in both the shot put (32’4”) and discus (96’2.5”): Nicole Cote was first in the 100-meter hurdles (17.60); Hannah Galloway was first in the 100-meter dash (13.59) and Nicole Lipnichan was first in the 300-meter hurdles (50.66).Placing second for Tecumseh was Lipnichan in the 100-meter hurdles (18.22); Hannah Weatherford in the 1,600-meter run (5:58.67) and 3,200-meter run (13:07.59); Stitt in the 200-meter dash (29.73) and Kasper in the 800-meter run (2:41.84).
