Teenage driver dies in morning accident on Billmeyer Hwy.

A one-car crash on Billmeyer Highway near Shull Road, involving two Tecumseh High School students, took the life of Jordan Fussman, 16, of Tecumseh, early Wednesday morning, April 8. Noah Nimer, 17, of Tecumseh, was a passenger in the vehicle and survived.Fussman was pronounced dead at the scene while Nimer was transported to Toledo ProMedica with what were then believed to be non-life threatening injuries, according to a press release from the Raisin Township Police Department Wednesday. Nimer received stitches to the face, no broken bones, hairline-fractures to the spine and was expected to be released from the hospital Thursday afternoon with a back brace, according to Raisin Township Police Chief Kevin Grayer.The Raisin Township Police Department, along with the Raisin Township Fire Department, responded to the personal injury accident at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Grayer arrived at the scene and confirmed two people were pinned inside the vehicle, and that the passenger of the vehicle was responsive and talking with police and medical staff as they arrived, according to the press release.The accident is still under investigation by the Raisin Township Police Department and the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Accident Investigation team. It is believe that speed was a factor in this accident, according to the release. Anyone with information pertaining to the accident is asked to contact Grayer at the Raisin Township Police Department at 424.4615, ext. 127. Tecumseh High School Principal Griff Mills said Tecumseh High School would have counselors on hand at the school from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 9, for students, family and community members that would like to speak with someone.
