Thanks staff at Gary’s Quick Lube for service in solving problem

To the Editor,Having lived in many locations around the world, I have come to appreciate the differences each community has toward the execution of customer service. As I grow older, I find that beyond price, beyond convenience and even beyond selection, I value good customer service. It is with this in mind that I would like to take a moment to publicly thank Gary’s Quick Oil Change on Chicago Boulevard.I recently drove my old trusty Chevy to Gary’s for a very over-due oil change. It was late, perhaps twenty to five, and I know the technicians were looking to the end of shift on a beautiful spring day. I had no reason to think this operation would be any different from any of my other visits over the years. By quarter after five, I had an inkling that something wasn’t going as planned.I was informed that my fuel filter had corroded in place and that they were doing their best to get it disconnected. Having nothing pressing planned for the rest of the evening, I relaxed in the waiting room with a magazine.By five thirty, the news was grim. The filter would not only not come off, but it would also not allow itself to be reconnected!After a brief hushed discussion, it was decided to call Paul. As it turns out, Paul was off duty and with his son getting ready for a Scouting event. In only a few minutes, the calvary had arrived. Forty-five minutes later, the old crusty was out and the new shinny one was in. Paul had not only saved the day, but turned the situation into a teachable moment and ensured the whole endeavor was as positive as possible. No grumbling was heard, no whines, not even a stomping of work boots as we all exiting the building two and a half hours after I had arrived. Grace and good will under pressure combined to offer some of the best customer service Tecumseh has to offer.My thanks to the team at Gary’s for a great job that was over and above the call of duty.Eric BurdickTecumseh
