Three charged in robbery at Gady Road trailer park

Three Ypsilanti residents were arraigned Friday, July 10, by video in Lenawee County Court, charged with robbing a woman in the early morning hours on Wednesday July 8. Joshua Wayne Cope, 36, Michael Rafael Suarez, 33, and Rebecca Sue Sharp, 34, all of Ypsilanti, were arrested July 8 after a Raisin Township Police Officer witnessed a white passenger vehicle leave Lee Villa Trailer Park, 2896 Gady Rd, and run the stop sign at Gady Road and Occidental Highway, heading north on Occidental. Around 1:30 a.m., the officer heard what he believed to be someone yelling in the area of Lee Villa Trailer Park, according to a Raisin Township Police Department (RTPD) press release issued by RTPD Police Chief Kevin Grayer. Shortly thereafter, the officer heard squealing tires from the same area. The officer got behind the vehicle, which had three occupants inside, and made the traffic stop. A car then pulled in behind the officer’s vehicle, the driver yelling to the officer the people in the car he pulled over had just robbed his girlfriend. Money allegedly stolen from a woman at the park was reported found in the vehicle, according to news reports. During their arraignment, a public defender was appointed for all three, according to news reports. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 22 with the $250,000 bonds continuing. Michigan State Police, Lenawee County sheriff’s deputies and Tecumseh police assisted RTPD. The case remains under investigation.
