THS girls sixth, boys ninth at regional cross-country meet
Tecumseh’s varsity girls cross country team placed sixth at the regional meet at Jackson’s Ella Sharp Park on Saturday, Oct. 25, while the Indians’ boys placed ninth. Chelsea placed first in both races.Christina Sawyer placed third for Tecumseh with a state qualifying time of 19:35. She will compete in the state meet at Michigan International Speedway on November 1.Also competing were Tecumseh’s Jessica Tebbetts (26th, 21:44), Kelsey Hammer (35th, 22:09), Kristina Ziemer (47th, 22:44), Emily Alderman (66th, 23:39), Elyssa Hedrick (79th, 24:43) and Kristin Randolph (81st, 25:18).“We finished sixth in a very tough region and I’m pleased with this considering we were ranked eighth going into the meet,” said Tecumseh girls coach Jill Stockford. Tecumseh’s boys were led by Andrew Waite (29th, 17:38).Also competing for the Indians were Jack Lacasse (33rd, 17:43), Jarred Waite (39th, 17:55), Gabe Lopez (51st, 18:21), Ian Thomsen (77th, 19:10), Lucas Manuszak (83rd, 19:20) and Jeff Case (85th, 19:29).“This is not how we wanted to finish today,” said Tecumseh boys coach Eddy Foley. “We are much better than the score reflects.”
