TPS employee claims she was fired for standing up to bully

To the Editor,The bullying is out of control in our schools. I have first hand knowledge of this as I was employed by TPS [Tecumseh Public Schools] as a noon supervisor and witnessed bullying. When I took a stand against the bullying I was fired. I was told I was fired because the parents of the bullies would be upset if they knew I was “standing guard” over their kids. Are you kidding me?What about the parents of the kids being bullied? I am appalled and sickened by the actions of the TMS [Tecumseh Middle School] administration.I was doing my job! This action sends two messages: 1) the bullies can do whatever they want; and 2) to the victims, no one is going to help you.Aren’t there enough kids being medicated due to anxiety and being pulled out of school and home schooled due to the bullying? We do not send our kids to school to be tormented. If TPS has a no tolerance policy for bullying, why is it being tolerated? What am I missing? Does it really come down to who you know or who you are? I certainly hope not.Does it take more kids committing suicide or hurting others in mass tragedy to get attention to the matter? Hire a task force if need be. Follow your policy and stop the bullying!Nancy SniderAdrian
