Tribe places third at Gibby Duals

Tecumseh’s varsity wrestling (A) team placed third at the first annual Gibby Duals at Carleton Airport High School on Saturday, Dec. 14. The eight-team tournament featured five Top 10 ranked teams, Davison (No. 1, D1), Oxford (No. 4, D1), Brighton (No. 10, D1), Niles (No. 6, D2) and Tecumseh (No. 8, D2), in their respective divisions.Davison defeated Tecumseh 59-16 in the first round but the Indians followed with three straight victories (Tecumseh 57, Portage Northern 15, Tecumseh 32, Brighton 27, Tecumseh 39, Oxford 30).Going undefeated with five wins each were Ricky Azelton (103), Landon Pelham (215), and Preston Pelham (285). Drew Marten (112) went 3-1 for the Indians.Tecumseh’s B team placed second out of six teams competing at Monroe St Mary’s Catholic Central Tournament.Tecumseh defeated Southgate 54-21, Anchor Bay 51-27, Saint Mary’s Catholic Central 66-6, Bloomfield Hills 36-34 before losing 51-30 to Blissfield.Going undefeated for Tecumseh with five wins were Hayden Whitehead (103), Jarred Waite (112) and DJ Tirado (160/171).Nick Wyatt (119) and Josh Marcum (152) and Nate Brady (285) each went 4-1 for Tecumseh.
