Tribe struggles to put points on board
Two losses were recorded by Tecumseh High School’s varsity boys basketball team with the Indians scoring just 30 points in both contests.Chelsea beat the Indians 49-30 in a Southeastern Conference contest (SEC) on Friday, Dec. 19, and Dexter beat Tecumseh 51-30 in a SEC game on Tuesday, Dec. 16 in the Jungle.Against Chelsea, the Indians had over 20 turnovers and sent Chelsea to the free throw line 34 times.Tecumseh’s offense struggled from the field, recording just one basket in the opening quarter while the Bulldogs scored 11.By the end of the first half Chelsea led 25-10.The highest scorer for the Indians was Tom Mammel with six points. He also added nine rebounds and two blocks.Against Dexter, Tecumseh was down by just three points after the first quarter (12-9). The Indians closed the first half with the Dreadnaughts holding a 30-16 lead.Doug Sheats led the Indians’ offense with 10 points and four rebounds while Silas Rebottaro added eight points.Tecumseh is now 1-3 overall.
