Truck hits high school student walking to school, leaves scene of accident on W. Chicago Blvd.

The City of Tecumseh Police Department is investigating a vehicle versus pedestrian, hit and run, injury crash that occurred early Wednesday morning, Jan. 30, at the intersection of W. Chicago Blvd. and Cairns St. The crash occurred at 7:12 a.m. when a Tecumseh High School student was on her way to school.The victim was transported from the scene by ambulance to the University of Michigan Medical Center. While on the scene, the victim was conscious and speaking with rescue personnel. At the time of this release, her medical condition was unknown. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of her family.Tecumseh Police are looking for what was described by a witness as a small white pickup truck, possibly a Dodge Dakota. The vehicle may have minor front-end damage. The truck was last seen east on M-50 from the location of the crash. Anyone with any information regarding the accident is encouraged to contact the Tecumseh Police Department at 423-7494.
