Two Tecumseh teens arrested for armed robbery in Illinois

Ethan M. Humphries, 18, and an unidentified 17-year-old juvenile, both of Tecumseh, were arrested for armed robbery of Huck’s convenience store located at 501 N. Hershey, Bloomington, Ill., on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 10:52 p.m. During the robbery, a handgun was displayed, an undisclosed amount of cash was taken, and no injuries were reported, according to a press release from the Bloomington Police Department. In early March, the Tecumseh Police Department received information from a Tecumseh High School administrator regarding a possible suspect in the armed robbery, according to a press release from the Tecumseh Police Department. The 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody and was lodged at Lenawee County Jail pending extradition to Illinois, the press release added. On February 19, The Bloomington Police Department released surveillance video from the armed robbery on YouTube and syndicated it through the department’s social media accounts, which led to the arrest of both men.Humphries was arrested in Hall County, Neb. and is awaiting extradition to McLean County, Ill. while the 17-year-old was arrested in Tecumseh on April 1. Humphries and Tanner J. Perry, 17, of Tecumseh, were arrested Wednesday, Feb. 25, suspected of attempting to rob Casey’s General Store in Wood River, Neb., at 3:25 a.m. the same day.According to The Grand Island Independent, court documents said Humphries and Perry were carrying a stolen Smith & Wesson .38 Special handgun and a Rohm .22-caliber handgun.On Friday, April 17, Humphries and Perry’s charges were reduced from aiding and abetting a Class II felony to aiding and abetting a Class III felony, according to The Grand Island Independent. Those convicted of a Class III felony may be imprisoned one to 20 years, fined $25,000 or both.Humphries waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday in Hall County Court and is to be arraigned in District Court at 9 a.m. May 5. Perry was scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, according to The Grand Island Independent. Both men are charged with two counts of possessing or receiving a stolen firearm, which is also a Class III felony. In addition, Perry is charged with a first offense of carrying a concealed weapon, which is a misdemeanor. Perry posted bond on March 9 from Hall County Jail while Humphries remained in Hall County Jail as of Friday, April 17.
