Vera “Maxine” Curtis
Vera “Maxine” Curtis, age 89 of Tecumseh died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 28, 1924 in Stockbridge to Carl and Estella (Stanfield) Barth. On February 23, 1946 in Jackson she married Donald Curtis. Maxine enjoyed gardening, flowers and bird watching. She was an active member of the Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh.Surviving Maxine are her husband, Donald; one son, John (Jacqueline) Curtis of Grosse Ile; two daughters, Carol (Richard) Zahn of Saline and Kathleen (David) Naebeck of Ann Arbor; three brothers, Maurice Briggs of Jenison, Edward Briggs of Stockbridge and Lawrence Briggs of Eden; three sisters, Lavonda Barnhart of Punta Gorda, Fla., Lucille Langham and Sally (Don) Steffey both of Stockbridge; seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Lena Dunsmore and three brothers, Roland, Lester and Erwin Barth.Funeral services for Maxine will be private. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralservices.com.Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Huron Valley in Ann Arbor. Arrangements were under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
