Virginia Blake Pond

Virginia Blake Pond, 90, of Venice, Fla., passed away July 14, 2015, at Venice Regional Bayfront Health in Venice, Fla. Virginia was born May 29, 1925, in Clinton, Mich., to Helen (Wallace) and Archie Spohr. On May 9, 1947, she married William L. Miller of West Unity, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1989. She graduated from Britton High School in 1943. A member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, she was an active member of The Altar Society and Study Group. She also was a member of the Little Garden Club. On February 29, 1992, Virginia married Robert Blake of Jackson, Mich. He preceded her in death on December 16, 2001. On July 1, 2005, she married Albert Pond and he survives. Virginia had made Venice her home for 18 years and was an active member of the Venice Yacht Club. Virginia loved to dance but her favorite pastime was playing cards with her family and dear friend Marge Ziegler.She was also preceded in death by her sister Patricia Coffey and son-in-law Thomas Wiseman.Survivors include her children: Bridget Wiseman of Orlando, Fla.; Archie Miller (Deonna) and Robin Tressler, both of Venice, Fla.; grandchildren: Megan Wiseman Arcuri, Casey Wiseman, Gabriel Miller Woody, Nathan Miller, Cameron Tressler and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of life was held July 25, 2015, at the Venice Yacht Club. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla.
