Wayne E. Murphy

Wayne E. Murphy, age 81 of Tecumseh, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014. He was born November 18, 1932 in Adrian, Mich., the son of James A. and Grace (Hoagland) Murphy. He married Dolores Rampy in 1953 in Albion, Mich. Sadly, she preceded him in death in 1978. Wayne then married Mary Ann Schwab in 1984 and she survives.Wayne was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country from 1953–1955 stationed in Germany. He worked for Tecumseh Products Company as a Draftsman and CAD designer for 30 years, retiring in 1998. Wayne attended church at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Wayne loved drawing in his younger days. He enjoyed fantasy baseball and casinos. He proudly tended to his family member’s graves. Wayne enjoyed researching his Irish genealogy. Wayne loved his snacks. He had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.In addition to his wife Mary Ann, he is survived by his son Kevin (Amy) Murphy of Tecumseh; daughter Pamela (Don, Jr.) Zoltowski of Clinton; sister Bonnie Wigent of Marshall; his grandchildren Samantha (Christopher) Gerber, U.S. Army 1LT Benjamin Murphy, DJ Zoltowski, and Alexandra Zoltowski; great grandchildren Kaitlyn Gerber and one on the way; his dog Gabby; Mohs the neighborhood cat; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Alvan, and sister Betty Ann.Visitation for Wayne was on Wednesday, May 7, from 2–4 and 6–8 p.m. at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be Thursday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant. Wayne will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh.
