William H. “Bill” Osburn, Sr.

William H. “Bill” Osburn, Sr., age 91, of Macon, passed away August 5, 2013, at home under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Hospice. Bill was born October 31, 1921 in Tecumseh, Mich., the son of Garland and Geraldine (Orr) Osburn. His wife of 39 years, Nobuko King, survives.Bill was a World War II veteran of the 8th Air Force, serving in England. After the war, he returned to his job at the Tecumseh Products Co., retiring 44 years later in 1984. Shortly after “retirement,” he went to work at Mitchell Memorial Park in Raisin Township until age 88. Bill enjoyed carpentry and built or renovated several houses and structures. He had a life-long passion for restoring and driving Model T Fords. He enjoyed attending reunions of the 55th Fighter Group and reuniting with his war buddies. In addition to his wife Nobuko, he is survived by his children, William H. (Roxie) Osburn, Jr. of Tecumseh, Thomas Osburn and Steve (Leslie) Osburn of Ann Arbor; step daughter, Karen (Scott) Heddle of Ypsilanti; sisters, Alice (Leon) Lewis of Britton, Joyce (Gerald) Gentry of Coldwater; brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Osburn of Tipton, Joe (Gloria) Osburn of Manitou Beach; sister in law, Paula Osburn; grandchildren, Leslie (Brent), Lisa, Joshua (Kim), Carissa (Dennis), and Rose; step grandchildren, Felicia and Kelsey; and three great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elizabeth Manchester Gould, Margaret Burnor; brothers, David, Bruce and Larry; and an infant son. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Rev. Karen Zurakowski officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Cemetery with military honors performed by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio.Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
