Classes will teach about low glycemic index eating, exercise, stress reduction, supplementation and more. The seminar will be held every Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Newsong Connection Center, 133 E. Chicago Blvd., downtown Tecumseh. The speaker for the April 14 seminar will be Jennifer Ronan and she will speak about detox and plateau.

Hospice of Lenawee, Weber Center and the Hospice Foundation of America will host the 15th Annual National Bereavement Telecon ference, “Living with Grief: Children and Adolenscents” on April 16 from 1:15 to 4:30 p.m. at the Weber Center, 1257 E. Siena Heights Drive, Adrian.
The teleconference will focus on the experience of grieving children and adolescents and the ways that all hospice professionals, educators and counselors, parents, social workers, physicians, grief counselors, funeral directors, and clergy can best support these populations as they cope with loss and grief.

The MOMS Club of Tecumseh will host a guest speaker Teresa Seaman at its upcoming member meeting on Thursday, April 17, at 10:30 a.m. in the basement of the Tecumseh Public Library. The topic will be your child’s learning styles; three styles of learning are visual, auditory, or kinesthetic.
Seaman has a degree in child daycare supervision with over 15 years experience as a director and teacher.
The MOMS Club is a support group specifically for the mother-at-home in Tecumseh and surrounding areas, all meetings are held during the day and mothers may bring children to anything the club does.

It is time once again for the River Raisin Watershed Council’s Spring Adopt-A-Stream Search. Volunteers are needed to help the council monitor the health of the river by collecting insects from sites across the River Raisin Watershed. By participating in the event, volunteers learn the importance of insects as indicators of stream health and how they are associated with the quality of the water and habitat they live in.
The stream search is set for Saturday, April 26, from 9 to 2 p.m. with three meeting locations: Adrian College, Mill Pond Park in Saline and Monroe Drain Commission.
The council’s Bug ID Day will be held Saturday, May 10 are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Adrian College.
The searches and Bug ID Day are open to the public and are family events. Adults and kids alike can learn more about the river while having a good time. Volunteers make it possible to collect year after year of valuable data that allows careful tracking of what is happening in the river.

The Nature Conservancy in Michigan is looking for volunteers to help remove invasive species at the Ives Road Fen Preserve near Tecumseh. If you are over the age of 15, you can join the Habitat Restoration Team. The dates to volunteer are on the following Saturdays: April 5, April 12, April 26, May 3, May 10, May 17 and May 31 and also Monday, April 21. The time of the event takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please remember to bring boots and a sack lunch. The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center and the U-M Department of Otolaryngology are offering free throat cancer screenings and smoking cessation counseling by appointment on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Taubman Center in Ann Arbor.
Symptoms of throat cancer include a sore throat or hoarseness that won’t go away as well ad difficulty swallowing.
